Hot Melt glass sealant GSPK-D - application instructions

Polymer composite Hot Melt glass edge sealant is used by hermetic sealing of glass packages after fastening glasses with spacers with help of melt extrusion. The material is designed for professional application using special equipment. To work with the sealant a heated extrusion device with metering gun is necessary.
  1. Before application a briquette of the sealant is to be taken from box, anti-adhesion paper removed from its surface, and then the cube put into the melting tank of extrusion unit.

  2. The sealant is used according to the Hot Melt technology at (1705). The temperature of air in the work zone of a room should not be lower than +15. The equipment is adjusted according to its operation instructions. At work any excess of temperature of melting tank and dosing head is not allowed. It is not allowed also leaving the heating elements of melting tank without product on them, and leaving heated melt of the sealant in melting tank without use. During a long inaction of the equipment its heating should be switched off.

  3. At work with the Hot Melt compound it is necessary to observe the following common rules of industrial safety:

  • Rooms where the sealant is applied should be equipped with mechanical ventilation in both directions. Upon the extrusion units local exhausts should be constructed;

  • Operators working with the sealants melt should be provided with special clothing and boots, and for individual protection of hands thermally stable gloves;

  • The material keeps high melt viscosity in wide temperature range, therefore careless handling can cause penetrating thermal burns demanding long therapy;

  • There should be in one-step availability: water, the first-aid set with first aid treatment kit;

  • At application of the sealant use of open fire and other sources of ignition is strictly forbidden. Smoking is supposed only in especially allocated places;

  • In case of fire of the sealant the following fire extinguishing measures should be applied: at fire of small amounts to extinguish with sand, a sheet of asbestos, a carbon-oxide or powder fire extinguisher; rising fires to be extinguished with a jet of foam.

  1. An undesirable contamination of glass with the sealant can be removed in a mechanical way.

  2. It is recommended to correct defects of sealing juncture with a siliconised PTFE plate, immediately after formation of defects.

  3. It is not recommended to mix or otherwise combine GSPK-D with other melted sealants of the same purpose. If such mixing is necessary, a complex check of materials on compatibility should be carried out; in this case, however, the manufacturer cannot guarantee the appropriate quality of the sealants work in such a mix.
